I hope you're sitting down because as you read this one of the greatest vocal groups of the century is exploding back on the scene. 50's legends Speedo & The Cadillacs are back in the 90's.
For starters, not only are they receiving a 1996 Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation this Spring, but they have something the world has been waiting for for nearly 42 years...A New Record!
Their CD, "Have You Heard The News" is unlike any Pop, R&B, or Rock and Roll record you've ever heard. Not only do the Cadillacs cover their classics like "Gloria" and "Woe Is Me" in unusual yet ear catching ways, but they also flip around other great songs like "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," "Every Breath You Take," and "Slip Slidin' Away." And that's just part of the recipe.
They sprinkled in a few endearing words from the great Ben E. King, Gary US Bonds and Chuck Jackson, added a cup of originals and a dash of comedy, and baked it all together for 43 minutes of the tastiest tracks you'll ever lay ears on.
Movies: Alan Freed's "Rock Around The Clock," Richard Nader's "Let The Good Times Roll" and Oscar nominated "Americal Hot Wax."
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Gladys Knight, The Temptations, the Four Tops and many others modeled themselves after the Cadillacs, the first dancing singing group.
The group is comprised of Earl "Speedo" Carroll, Robert Phillips, John Brown and Gary K. Lewis.
