Clarence "Guitar" Sims

Clarence "Guitar" Sims aka Filmore Slim puts on a rollickin' good time show and possesses a magnetic stage personality.

Born in New Orleans in 1934, Sims performed around the San Francisco Bay area, across the United States and in Europe. He's a song-writer and "one man band" playing lead guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. He was a vocalist in L.C. Good Rockin' Robinson's Band. Sims' festival appearances include the Monterey Jazz Festival and festivals in San Francisco, Sacramento, Oregon, Oklahoma, and others, and has worked with Etta James.

Sims has recorded several times, tunes like "You Have the Nerve Of A Big Brass Monkey" and "Family Man" for California labels, Dooto Records and others.

He has appeared with Muddy Waters and Junior Wells. He counts his influences as James Brown and T-Bone Walker and started to sing with Little Willie Littlefield, Joe Tex and Sly and the Family Stone.
